This daily correspondence between schools she attended and us gives you a glimpse of our daily life. Most parents of typical children do not communicate on daily basis with the teachers. This gives a reader an insight to how important daily communication is for a child with autism.
Kat has attended school since she was 3 years old. These are school notes that were result of correspondence with her parents and her teachers. We have made comments at a later date reflecting back on the impact of these events. Kats School Notes Index

6/1 Welcome back! Hope vacation was great for the whole family - Kat looked tan & healthy . Some trouble getting concentration in AM but worked well once we got going .

6/2 Locations drill Kat did 100%. The dog is at grandma's . One of the Questions asked her to find dog's cage . She said "Dog's cage is in the laundry room." --> (Great Lang! - K.) I asked her to find it she went and looked in laundry room, and looked in garage. I asked her again where isthe dog's cage she said " He was here but he's not here any more " (From bigbirdvideo!)
How exciting ! !

6/6 We had a good day - D. had to leave at 11:15 , but really worked & we all completed drills . Had some complaining issues w/ " are you sure?" drill .

6/7 Worked hard today! Tried to complete as many drills as possible but we had sub in for one assistant. J.R. is observing sometime tomorrow . Said IEP conference is still to schedule .

6/9 J. ( school psychologist) came to observe K. all AM - so slowed updrill time to try to explain process. He was very interested in program for Kat & asked a lot of questions .

6/14 Can't find pink note book - We'll keep looking. How did district visit at home ?

6/14 I found the note book with the books . Kat come back & forth from school . the home visit went fine . We were trying to get Kat to say "Jerry". I asked her who is it ? after telling her and she said " It is a banker ." We asked what does a banker do . She said "Banker keeps money "! Isn't that the truth !! good for her !! |

6/15 Danuta ,
We had a short -staffed day for 1 hr. today and as a result not all Kat's drills got done - she was mouthing object at 2 different occasions today ( plastic, paper, & foil) so we really need to watch play area . good day behaviorally.

6/16 Kat lost a tooth during vacation. she may be chewing more because of the new tooth.
6/16 Kat worked hard today (some crying during 60 /went) but we took time out to make Dad a gift so not as many drills done .

6/20 Hi -
Did drills in AM, but had Field Day all PM ( Kat was with 1st grade class she had music with & D. was with her) so not all drills completed.
Thanks for productive meeting Friday - D. can work full time this summer ( 8 : 30 - 2 : 00) so it apppears Kat's assistant is thru aug .
